The Cleaner Future

We all know that the planet faces a lot of pollution and is beginning to change because of it. Finding a way to resolve the problem has been a struggle for many who don't want to make the necessary changes. Some states have come up with new plans to help make the world a cleaner place to live in. California is one state that has taken a hard look at the damaged caused to the earth and put into motion many plans to make the environment cleaner.

In 1967 California developed the first and only state run board to help come up with a greener way of living. With this new development came the California Air Resources Board which enabled the state to produce rules regulating the way Californians drive in the state. This board also granted scientist permission to work on projects that enabled them to find ways to keep the air cleaner.

With the development of the CARB came the development of PZEV restrictions on automobiles. PZEV, or Partial Zero Emission Vehicle, were created as a compromise to the auto industry. These cars are designed to produce less emissions, without forcing car dealerships to create cars that actually create no emissions. As time progresses this standard is meant to change to no emission cars, but for never every car registered in California is meant to have to pass a SMOG test before successfully being registered in the state. This is designed to cut back emissions as much as possible until the no emission cars can be designed more efficiently for consumers.

California is slowly making a change in the right direction. Despite CARB being established several decades ago, the environment in California still needs a lot improvement. The state still has one of the worst pollution rates in urban areas and many of the world's worst water supplies are found in this state. With things rapidly speeding up many people will  soon be purchasing no emission vehicles that will take away a lot of the pollution burden.
